Eudaimonic Coaching

Eudaimonic Coaching™ is an all-encompassing approach rooted in Positive Psychology: the Science of Human Strengths and Well-Being. The term ‘Eudaimonic’ (pronounced ‘You-Day-Monic’) refers to human functioning that is integral to a well-lived life and which culminates in the state of being ‘Eudaimon,’ an Ancient Greek philosophical and psychological notion similar to ‘Enlightenment’ in the East.

A person who lives a life that is Eudaimon is an optimal human being from the perspective of Positive Psychology, and thus displays eudaimonic functioning. As such, the aim of Eudaimonic Coaching™ is to help people to move toward this valued philosophical and psychological way of being.

Eudaimonic Coaching™ therefore has a philosophical basis in Ancient Greek virtue ethics; a traditional psychological basis in current conceptions of psychopathology; and an applied positive psychology basis which aims to encompass the traditional and transcend it.

Some aspects of this coaching course include:

  1. The Philosophy and Science of Positive Psychology (e.g., identifying strengths).
  2. Cognitive-Behavioural methods to change limiting beliefs (e.g., Multimodal Therapy; Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy and Stoic Philosophy), based on Eudaimonic Coaching’s™ unique ‘REAP what you SOW™’ model of well-being and WISE goal-setting methodology.
  3. Eudaimonic Coaching’s unique ‘PEP Talk™’ method (Peak Experience Profiling™) to identify the structure of a client’s best experiences.
  4. The Inner Beauty Model (IBM)™: A radical virtue-based approach to self-image issues.
  5. Certified Coaching Training begins with a full 3-month distance-learning grounding in applied psychology, based on nationally validated QQI (Ireland) applied psychology materials, prior to attendance skills training. This material, written by your coaching trainer, has been validated for youth workers and various other caring professionals in Ireland! As a result our trainees are given a thorough grounding in applied psychology, thus helping them to then transcend psychopathology via Eudaimonic Coaching™.
